Franchisee Concept – A Proven Strategy of Success in Service & Retail Sector
By Lalit Kumar,
Sr. Lecturer

IILM BSThe concept of Franchisee is not new in India, though still proves to be the best-out-of- best strategy for the achieving the milestones of success from the Industry's point of view.

Concept Elaboration:
A particular company or firm is started on keeping in view “The Profit Theory of Economics” to generate handsome funds for the company. The Executives acquire so many different strategies to achieve the targets like Quality and Relevant Products, Marketing – Promotions & Branding, Pricing Theory, etc.

The main thing, in above strategies, is Branding. Once the brand name for the company developed, the problems to acquire the market share for particular product get minimal.

Branding:
Branding means the sequential steps of promotions of a particular product that requires lot of money, time, and ethics, quality efforts due to which the company creates credibility, authenticity, and relevance for its products in customers mind.

Branding Slogans:
Some Famous Branding Slogans are: Bajaj (Distinctly Ahead); Thumps Up (Taste the Thunder); Dew (Cheeta Bhi Peeta hai);, Amul(The Taste of India); Cadbury(Kuch Mitha Ho jaye); LG (Digitally Yours); Denim(The Man who doesn’t have to try too hard).

Let’s take an example to have more clarity for the above stated statements:

1) The Company, Hindustan Unilever Limited, formerly known as Hindustan Lever, has a wide variety of FMCG Products in its credit like Bathing Soaps, Toiletries, Shampoos, Antibiotic Lintment. Now the company has started the strategy of Promotions & Branding and spent somewhere near 250-300 crore of its revenue for the Advertising & Promotional Activities. Now the people know its name and the product can be sold out just because of its name, quality, and effectiveness of the products.

The Company can ask for the Franchisee bids for various towns, districts of India in which certain people will come forward with their space and money too.

Now the company is having the presence in all over the India and accessibility to the maximum households. Ultimately, the more sales and the more profit.

2) Similarly, we can look up for the Largest Food Chains of the world, McDonald & Pizza Hut, famous for its Burger, French Fries and Pizza respectively. As according to some probabilistic sources, McDonald is claiming to have a new outlet/Franchisee in the world in every 3 hours.

3) Some similar kinds of examples are of Apollo Clinic’s Healthcare centers, Spencer’s & Big-Bazaar- General & Departmental Stores, Koutons, Charlie Outlaw, Levi’s- Retails outlets of readymade garments.
